Chosen as Duluth's One Book One Community city-wide read for 2009, Population 485 is a memoir set in Northern Wisconsin "against a backdrop of fires and tangled wrecks, bar fights and smelt feeds" It is at times comic and sometimes heartbreaking. USA Today said "Swells with unadorned heroism. Perry's the real thing".
Get a group together to discuss the book and come to a reading and concert by Michael Perry and his band "The Longbeds", Friday May 1st, 7:30pm at Lake Superior College, 2nd Floor Student Commons. It will be Fun and Memorable. Tickets $2 students, $5 Adults- at the door.
